Six paintings by Dan Coombs will feature in the exhibition A Home of One’s Own at the Museum Dr. Guislain in Ghent, Belgium, alongside works by Ed Atkins, Louise Bourgeois, Bracha L. Ettinger and others. 


As of 17th September, these paintings will accompany the museum’s existing installation by Belgian author Erwin Mortier in which psychiatry-related artefacts from within the museum’s archives are exhibited. Curated by Bart Marius, the intention here is to provide artistic ‘interventions’, bringing new encounters, disruptions, and dialogues into the existing exhibition. 

The exhibition, which will explore the ties between art and psychoanalysis, will open in tandem with ‘Lacan Today’, a series of lectures hosted at Ghent University exploring the work of psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan and its relevance to modern clinical practice, philosophy, and social critique.

Other exhibiting artists are Ed Atkins and Steven Zultanski, Bracha L. Ettinger, Antonia Brown, Franck Ancel, Louise Bourgeois, Stephen Benedicto, Evangelina Danadaki, Carmen Schmöl, and Amber Wynants.
