Charlotte Wilmont

Passion Flower, oil pencil on inkjet print, 2026, 61 × 85 cm

Charlotte Wilmont’s work begins on the way to the studio: photographs are taken of flowers and grasses the line the route. Subsequently printed, these images are enhanced via ‘painterly invention’ as neon oil pencils are drawn across the surface. Occupying portions of the image or otherwise leaving slender and minimal marks, this intervention serves to enhance the work’s focus. Ultimately dominating the picture plane and absorbing the eye, these close-cropped flowers compel the viewer to accept their message, which, of course, is itself.

Born 2000, Central Saint Martins, London (2022-2026), exchange programme, Beaux Arts de Paris (2023-2024). Previous group exhibitions include The Secret Garden, FreddieFoulkes Gallery, London (2026).
